The consultative meeting on the national report regarding the implementation
of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CPB) will be held on April 29
at the Apacible Conference Room, Department of Agriculture, Quezon City.
The meeting aims to solicit comments, suggestions, recommendations,
or approval on the contents of the draft national report.
The First Philippine Cartagena Report will then be submitted
through the Department of Foreign Affairs for the forthcoming
4th Meeting of the Conference of Parties Serving as the Meeting
of the Parties (COP-MOP IV) to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety
which is scheduled on May 12-16, in Bonn, Germany.
The consultative meeting is jointly organized by the Departments
of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Environment and Natural
Resources, Health, and the National Committee on Biosafety
of the Philippines.
The Philippines which became a party to the CPB on January
3, 2007 will participate for the first time in the COP-MOP
IV meeting.
