The Philippines will be hosting the upcoming AsianBio2006, an international conference on biotechnology. The conference will be a two-day event from November 9-10, 2006 at the Diamond Hotel, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

With the theme "Biotechnology Opportunities for Developing Countries", the conference will be a venue for government institutions, the academe, farmers, businesses, the Church, the media and the international community to share biotechnology information, to discuss relevant issues and to establish linkages.

Some scientists and experts from the USA, the European Union and Asia will present papers on biotechnology.

Already the third of a series, the forum hopes to contribute to the formulation of developing country strategies on harnessing biotechnology as an engine for growth and economic development.

Among other things, the forum aims to help countries develop plans that would encourage the growth of biotechnology industries.

AsianBio2006 in the Philippines is made possible through the efforts of the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines (BCP) in partnership with the Research and Information System for the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (RIS) of India. This event strengthens the position of the Philippines as a leader in biotechnology policy and governmental regulations in the region.

For further details and online registration, visit the conference website at http://www.bcp.org.ph/asianbio2006.
