AGRILINK-FOODLINK 2002 ON TODAY AT WTC
 
Government and business leaders from more than 24 countries worldwide are participating in Agrilink and Foodlink 2002, the Philippines' biggest international agribusiness and food trade show, which opens at the World Trade Center (WTC) at 9 a.m. today.

They will be led by Presidential Adviser for Agricultural Modernization Angelito M. Sarmiento, Sen. Ramon Magsaysay Jr., Rep. Alfredo Maraņon Jr., and Agriculture Undersecretary Ernesto Ordoņez in the ribbon-cutting rites shortly after a ceremonial handling of position papers by various industry leaders.

Subsequently, the officials will be joined by dignitaries and business executives in a tour of the exhibits, which showcase the world's biggest assembly and latest food and agricultural products and technologies.

The show, which runs up to Saturday, Oct. 12, features the best from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, The Netherlands, China, Taiwan, Israel, Iran, Sri-Lanka, Thailand, Australia, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines, among others.

A VIP lunch will usher in a series of technology presentations and seminars that will be held simultaneously in two rooms, with daily cooking demonstrations at the lobby sponsored by the Technology and Livelihood Resource Center, CMC Ventures, TEFAL, Bureau of Animal Industry, organic Producers Trade Association, and Tentay Food Sauces, Inc.

Seminar topics for Oct. 10 are "Biotechnology for Maximizing Agricultural Productivity," by Monsanto Philippines., Inc.; "Application of Ultrasound in Modern Swine Production / Practical Feeding Practices for Replacement Gilts and the Gestating Sows," by the Illinois Department of Agriculture / USLGE Swine Trade Mission; "Use of PBM as Fishmeal Replacement in Shrimp and Other Aquafeeds," by National Renderers Association; "Immunosuppression Caused by Mycotoxins and the Solutions," by Agrimate, Inc.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. of Oct. 11, the Infarmco Group will present "Wind & Water Utilization: The INFARMCO Experience," which involves optimum climate control in productivity through tunnel ventilation, and maximum resource recovery via an effective and efficient wastewater treatment system; while AgriSpecialist, Inc., will tackle"Recent Developments in Swine Manure Management."
