crop sciences including genetic engineering have enabled scientists to improve plants and animals. Modern biotechnology can be harnessed toward better and more efficient ways to produce food,"
says Ms. Tababa in her opening remarks. As resource person, she discussed various topics such as concepts, applications, and trends; food and environmental safety; and government policy initiatives.
She emphasized on the establishment of a responsive public information resource system to enable the general public obtain correct information from concerned regulatory agencies.
The seminar aimed to increase awareness and understanding among students and faculty of the university on biotechnology including some issues about it.
There were 103 participants in the seminar that was held on
1 July 2004 at the CAFES Function Hall, Aklan State University
(ASU), Banga, Aklan. SEARCA BIC and ASU sponsored the activity.
